Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Settlebuddy Technologies ("SettleBuddy", "we", "us") handles personal data collected through this website, settlebuddy.io (the "Site").
The Site is a promotional and informational "coming soon" page. It presents our brand and vision and lets you ask to be notified when we launch. It is not a product or service — no accounts, logins, purchases, or product functionality. We do not collect any personal data beyond what is described here. Where the Site links to our separately operated product, Language Lab (language-lab.io), that product has its own privacy policy; this policy does not cover it.
Who we are (Data Controller)
The controller responsible for your personal data is Settlebuddy Technologies. Contact for all privacy matters: hello@settlebuddy.io. This policy reflects the standards of the EU GDPR, UK GDPR, and other applicable data-protection laws, which can apply because visitors from those regions may use the Site.
What personal data we collect, why, and our legal basis
a) Email address you voluntarily submit for early access. When you enter your email in our early-access form, we collect that email address. Purpose: to contact you about our launch and send occasional updates about SettleBuddy. Legal basis: your consent. You can withdraw consent at any time by unsubscribing or emailing us. We do not ask for your name or any other detail.
b) Analytics and advertising data via cookies and pixels — only with your consent. If, and only if, you accept analytics/marketing cookies in our consent banner, we load:
- Google Analytics 4 (GA4), by Google — collects a randomly generated identifier, pages viewed, approximate (city-level) location from IP, device/browser type, and interactions. Purpose: measure interest and understand how the Site is used. Legal basis: consent.
- Meta Pixel, by Meta — collects a Meta-related identifier, pages viewed and actions taken, and links this to your Meta account where you have one. Purpose: measure and improve our marketing. Legal basis: consent.
If you decline, these tools are not loaded and none of this data is collected. See our Cookie Policy for full details.
c) Server logs kept by our hosting provider. Like almost all websites, our hosting/CDN provider automatically records standard technical log data (such as IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user-agent). Purpose: to operate the Site securely and diagnose faults. Legal basis: our legitimate interests in the security and proper functioning of the Site.
We collect nothing else. We do not build profiles about your relocation, immigration, or finances through this Site, and we do not process any such data here.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the providers needed to run the Site: our email provider (to send you launch and update messages), our hosting/CDN provider (to host the Site and generate server logs), Google (which provides GA4 as our processor), and Meta (which provides the Meta Pixel). Meta may process Pixel data as an independent controller for its own purposes, including its own advertising; for that processing Meta, not us, determines the purposes and means.
International data transfers
Google and Meta are based in the United States, and our other providers may process data outside your country. Where personal data is transferred from the EU/EEA or UK to the US or elsewhere, that transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards — the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses (with the UK Addendum where applicable) — and, for US recipients certified under it, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and its UK Extension. Ask us for more information using the contact below.
How long we keep your data
- Your early-access email: kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, or until we launch and migrate you to the product — and in any case no longer than 24 months after collection if we have not launched.
- Analytics data (GA4): retained for 14 months (the GA4 default).
- Server logs: retained by our host for a short period (typically 30–90 days), then deleted or anonymised.
Your rights
EU/EEA or UK (GDPR / UK GDPR): you have the right to access, correct, or erase your data; to restrict or object to processing; to data portability; and to withdraw consent at any time (which does not affect processing before withdrawal). You may also lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
California and other US states: you may have rights to know, access, delete, and correct your personal information, and to opt out of its "sale" or "sharing" for cross-context advertising. We do not sell your personal information for money. To the extent our consent-gated cookies constitute a "sale" or "share", we enable them only if you opt in, and you can opt out any time via cookie preferences. We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a valid opt-out.
To exercise any right, or withdraw consent, email hello@settlebuddy.io. You can also withdraw cookie consent via the "Manage preferences" control, and unsubscribe using the link in any email. We do not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Children
The Site is a general-audience marketing page and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child gave us their email, contact hello@settlebuddy.io and we will delete it.
Changes & contact
We may update this policy; the "Last updated" date above will change and material updates appear on this page. Questions or requests: hello@settlebuddy.io.
